It All Began in 1918 with Our "Founding Mother" Effie Ballou
Effie would make the donuts and pies in the “house on the hill”. They were brought down to the Wayside, a very small roadside eatery. From its humble beginnings, Wayside Bakery has evolved into a full-service bakery.
From morning until night, Wayside customers enjoy fresh baked goods made from scratch—donuts, bread, Parker House rolls, puddings, pies, squares, cookies and more. Having a bakery on premises is certainly a big feather in the Wayside’s culinary cap.

Two Happy Hours Daily
The Wayside Restaurant is the only restaurant in America that starts its day and ends each day with a Happy Hour! The first Happy Hour is from 7-8AM. Early bird customers enjoy FREE donut holes (plain or cinnamon sugared) with their coffee. At the end of the day, customers enjoy the Wayside’s 2nd Happy Hour from 7:30-8:30PM. Dine-in customers enjoy ½ price desserts!
